Thursday's forecast: Rain, flooding Mid-Atlantic
Drenching rain will soak the Mid-Atlantic Thursday, where flash flooding is possible. The central U.S. will enjoy a clear and dry day.
Great Lakes, Mid-Atlantic: Showers and thunderstorms will develop Thursday from the Great Lakes and Ohio Valley to the Mid-Atlantic and the Southeast. By far, the heaviest rain will be in the Mid-Atlantic, where flood watches are in effect.
Central U.S.: The nation's best weather Thursday will be in the central U.S. from the Upper Midwest to the southern Plains, where clear skies and mostly pleasant temperatures will rule.
West: The West Coast will also be sunny and dry but some showers and storms will dampen the Southwest and Rockies.
