The Carolina Panthers will not be moving Sunday’s home game against the Minnesota Vikings.

The team was discussing the status of its Week 3 contest with law enforcement and NFL officials amid the riots that have left the city of Charlotte under a state of emergency, but intend to still play at downtown Bank of America Stadium.

The Carolina Panthers are discussing the status of their home game on Sunday with the NFL and law enforcement amid the protests that have the city of Charlotte under a state of emergency.

"We are planning to play the game as scheduled on Sunday,” NFL spokesperson Brian McCarthy said in an email to USA TODAY Sports. "We are monitoring events in Charlotte and have been in communication with local officials and authorities, and both the Carolina Panthers and the Minnesota Vikings."

The National Guard and the state highway patrol were called in to assist area police in the aftermath of a police shooting of Keith Lamont Scott, a black man who was killed Tuesday. There were protests on Tuesday and Wednesday nights not far from the stadium.

One person was shot and left critically injured, and four police officers were injured after Wednesday night’s violence in what started as a peaceful protest. The NASCAR Hall of Fame was among the places vandalized.
