Bowling Green football coach, trainer save woman from wreck

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio (AP) — Officials say Bowling Green State University football coach Dino Babers and an athletic trainer saved a woman from a burning car last weekend as the team was coming home from a game.

The Blade newspaper reports that Babers and Chelsea Lowe were aboard the first of four team buses traveling back from Buffalo to the northwest Ohio school on Interstate 90. They saw a car swerve in front of the bus, hit the center divider and catch fire.

The pair pulled the injured driver from the flaming wreck. She was identified as 25-year-old Amber Nettles.

Babers says he fulfilled a promise he made to a Good Samaritan who helped him when he was stranded on the road during a snowstorm nearly 30 years ago.
