With the regional and sectional behind them, Brookfield East golf coach Chris Minchk looked back at this past season.
'I really respect this group of guys,' the veteran coach said. 'They worked their butts off during the off-season and during the season. Nothing came easy for us this season; we relied on our experience to post some solid golf scores at a few courses.'
Minchk was quick to talk about how 'golf-smart' his team was.
'Golf swings can come and go, but course knowledge can cure a few evils during a round,' he said. 'This is a really smart group of guys. Their golf IQs carried us this year.'
He is also sad to see his seniors go.
'I'm sad to see Lucas Moyer, Jacob Taylor and Logan Kerstetter play their final rounds of golf at Brookfield East High School,' he said. 'I hope they remember the great times and all the wonderful experiences we all had together over the last three years. It's been a fun ride, and this group of seniors will be missed next year.'
East finished third in the WIAA regional at Brown Deer Park Golf Course with a team total of 330. The East scores were Moyer with a 76, junior Jude Shafer 82, Kerstetter 85, Taylor 87 and Grady Gibson 93.
East finished eighth at the WIAA sectional at Wanaki Golf Course with a team total of 350.
Taylor finished with an 83, Moyer 88, Kerstetter 89, Gibson 90 and Shafer 92.
'It just wasn't our day,' Minchk said.
