The Brookfield East girls track and field team won the 24-team Nelson Daniels Classic on March 19 at UW-Whitewater, defeating Cary-Grove, 57.5 to 49.5.

Allie Bullen finished first in the 55 hurdles (8.67) and the long jump (19 feet, 1 inch), and Eleni Tongas won the high jump (5-2).

Rachel Werking was second in the 1,600 run in 5 minutes, 21.17 seconds, and Sarah Werking was second in the 3,200 run (11:56.06)

Meg Swietlik took third in 800-meter run (2:42.42), and Emily Breider was fourth in the 400 (1:01.80).

Boys' highlights

The East boys track and field team finished third out of 22 teams at the Nelson Daniels Classic on March 19 at UW-Whitewater.

Hononegah won the event with 61.5 points, finishing before Franklin (54) and Brookfield East (41).

Mario Carr won the 55-meter hurdles (7.95 seconds) and finished third in the triple jump (44-feet, 61/4 inches).

Greg Schuh finished second in the 1,600 (5:01.88), Jack Leonovicz was third in the shot put (50-101/2 inches) and Saxton Williams took third in the 400 dash (52.42).

Mike Caliendo rounded out the top four finishers in taking fourth in the shot put (50-feet, 33/4 inches).
