Mitch Meves is the only returning state qualifier for the Brookfield Central boys track and field team, but coach Steve Kracht has other talented returnees.

Meves, who qualified in the long jump, also participates in the pole vault, sport sprints and sprint relays.

He is joined by key returning athletes Dominic Laballarte (short sprints, sprint relays) and Kuma Okoro (400, 800, relays).

'We have high hopes for some others this year,' Kracht said, talking about Bruno Indig (400, 800), Ben Geibl (400/800), John Kelly (400, 800) and Joey Cleary (long sprints, triple jump). 'We're excited about our numbers again (90s).

'We're hoping that the newcomers will compliment the returning athletes from last year. The coaches are getting the kids to compete more in practice, which we hope will carry over into the meets. We need to have the kids be more competitive, take greater pride in their effort on a daily basis if we expect the outcomes to improve over last season.'
