Andy Katz tweets beautiful note after ESPN layoff

For a second straight day, names of employees laid off from ESPN have trickled out, and hearing about all of them is absolutely awful.

Thursday's group included longtime college basketball reporter Andy Katz, who has worn a bunch of different hats while covering hoops for nearly 20 years, including multiple televised bracket selection segments with President Barack Obama.

Katz confirmed the news with this beautifully penned note that's absolutely worth reading:

"I loved this company and my job. And I always wanted to do it right. I never wanted to cut corners. I knew that relationships matter. Treat editors, reporters, producers, researchers, camera operators, audio techs, directors, the entire crew, competitors, sports information directors, arena personnel, coaches, players administrators and front office executives and of course any other sources how you want to be treated and you will always be dealt with fairly. I have taken great pleasure in mentoring younger or new reporters in and outside of our company. I relished seeing someone have success while working with me in the field or on the anchor desk. It gives me great joy to see their success. Having a positive attitude was always my goal. Being right, not just first, was the objective."'
