All season long, Eleni Tongas, Lizzy Cagle and Emily Breider have come through for the Brookfield East girls track and field team.

It was no different at the Menomonee Falls Invitational on May 10, as the trio combined for five individual event wins and two relay victories to allow the Spartans to score 143.5 points to win the team title by 27.5 points over West Bend West.

Tongas won the high jump by clearing 5 feet and also claimed first place in the triple jump at 34 feet, 6 inches. 

Cagle continued her strong throwing season by winning the shot put at 37-11 1/2 and the discus at 114-03. 

Breider placed first in the 800-meter run in 2 minutes, 24.02 seconds. 

Earning runner-up finishes for the Spartans were Sophie Tasker in the 800 in 2:28.46, Katina Mistrioty in the high jump clearing 4-08 and Natalie Rouse in the shot put at 36-03.

Olivia DeValkenaere was third in the shot put at 34-03, Katie Work took third in the discus at 103-04, Tasker claimed fourth in the 1,600 in 5:38.79, Claudia Lecher was fourth in the discus at 99-04 and Caroline Lieu placed fifth in the 300 hurdles in 53.37 seconds. 

East won the 4x100 in 50.83 seconds with Riley Kindt, Bella Rosa, Rachael Behling and Breider.

In addition to performing well in the throwing events, DeValkenaere, Cagle, Lacher and Rouse teamed together to win the throwers 4x100 in 57.22 seconds. 

East will compete next at the Greater Metro Conference Outdoor Championships on May 16 at Hart Park in Wauwatosa. The Spartans won the GMC Indoor title, while Brookfield Central took the GMC Relays crown.
