The Doug Johnson Bulldog Invitational at West Allis Central High School became a battle between two rivals on March 24.
Brookfield Central's girls track and field team came out on top, outscoring Brookfield East, 162-155.5, to win its second invitational in as many weeks. West Allis Hale finished a distant third at the 10-team meet with 92 points, and defending state champion Milwaukee King was fourth with 64.5 points.
The Lancers won five individual titles and a relay crown, with Amanda Miller taking first in the 200-meter dash in 28.04 seconds, Michelle Hirsch winning the 800 in 2 minutes, 30.11 seconds, Leah Neustedter claiming first in the 1,600 in 5:29.55, Alexis Canitz winning the 3,200 in 12:49.64, and Caitlin Locante easily taking the pole vault title by clearing 10 feet, 6 inches.
With the team of Miller, Lexi Romero, Georgina Eberle and Marissa Zepecki, Brookfield Central finished the 4x240 relay in 2:17.42.
Taking second place were Amy Keane in the 55 hurdles in 9.59 seconds and Romero in the triple jump at 32 feet, 9.5 inches. The Lancers also earned runnerup finishes in the 4x400 with Emily Johnson, Jessica Olson, Kaylie Milton and Lena Jensen finishing in 4:50.31 and in the 4x800 with Katie Smith, Johnson, Kathleen Wierzchowski and Olson crossing the finish line in 11:31.68.
Emily Smith took third in the 1,600 in 5:49.42, Rhea Ramochandran placed third in the 3,200 in 14:37.94, Megan Patterson came in fourth in the shot put with a top throw of 32 feet, 2.5 inches, Gabriella Brueggerman came in fourth in the 800 in 2:43.37, Paris Konzal was fifth in the 400 in 1:14.30, Eva Vang took fifth in the shot put at 32-00, Smith was fifth in the high jump clearing 4 feet, 6 inches, and Molly Thomas was sixth in the 400 in 1:15.81.
The Lancers were third in the 4x160 in 1:35.28 with the team of Emma Ticcioni, Brooke Barreda, Cami Herman and Livia Shi.
