Brookfield East's ski team wrapped up a successful season after facing unprecedented weather conditions this winter.

Senior Connor Krause had an outstanding season, individually placing first twice and second once in conference races and earning first-team All-Conference honors. Together with junior Cam Bauer, they led the boys varsity squad to two first-place team conference race finishes this season, qualifying the team for the Wisconsin State Alpine Championships at Mt. LaCrosse. Other varsity skiers included Zack Long, Henry Shore, Brady Wellman and Matthew Botcheck.

At the state meet, the athletes faced record-breaking warm temperatures together with heavy rain and lightning delays. Notwithstanding the challenging conditions, the boys' team finished 14th. Krause led the team with an outstanding third-place finish in the Slalom, finishing eighth overall after combining his Slalom (third), Giant Slalom (16th) and Super G (13th) runs.

Krause will once again represent Team Wisconsin in the Eastern High School Ski Championships at Attitash Mountain in New Hampshire in March. Bauer finished 49th overall (SL (82nd), GS (66th), Super G (48th)); Shore finished 66th overall (SL (66th), GS (82nd)), Super G (119th); Long finished 72nd overall (SL (112th), GS (83rd), Super G (118th)); and Wellman finished 132nd overall (GS (59th), Super G (95th)).

Junior Jill Genova led the girls varsity team to a strong conference showing this season, winning their first race of the season at Alpine Valley. The team just missed on a team state bid. The team also included Sophie Tasker, Shannon Krause, Sallie McCann, Katina Mistrioty and Annika Ruiz. Genova placed second individually in a regular conference race, earning honorable mention All-Conference honors and an individual berth to the state meet in LaCrosse. At the state championships, Jill placed 72nd overall after combining her SL (128th), GS (115th) and Super G (38th) run times.

Junior varsity racers Melanie Tasker, Chloe Shafer, Victoria Ochotnicky, Joey Heuler, Derek Werchowski, Josh Poehlein, Kyle Corcoran and Rayyan Siddiqui gained a lot of great racing experience this season.
