Brookfield East's cheerleading team took first place at the Wisconsin Association of Cheer and Pom Coaches State High School Cheer Championships on Feb. 25, earning a state championship for the second straight year.

The Spartans scored 99.5 out of a possible 120 points to finish first among six teams in their division, beating their closest competitor by 8.3 points.

Teams qualify for state competition by placing in the top half at the southern regional the week prior to state. Brookfield East took first place at the regional competition in the D1 Super Small Division, finishing ahead of competitors Brookfield Central, Oconomowoc, Waukesha South and Waukesha West.

Brookfield East cheerleading is coached by the mother-daughter duo Amy Fischer and Cheyenne Fischer.
