Brookfield Academy's girls basketball team won its first WIAA regional championship with a 57-54 victory over Dominican on Feb. 25.

The third-seeded Blue Knights (17-7) will face top-seeded Martin Luther (23-1) in a sectional semifinal at New Berlin Eisenhower at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 2. The winner will advance to the sectional final at Waukesha South at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 4, against Waupun, Columbus or North Fond du Lac.

Freshman forward Erina Weiss led Brookfield Academy against Dominican (16-8) with 12 points and 12 rebounds.

Freshman guard Julia Jensen and junior forward Angela Weiss each had 10 points and eight rebounds; junior guard Anika Washburn had 10 points and five assists; and junior guard Theresa Wichser scored 10 points.

The Blue Knights opened the postseason with a 68-60 win over sixth-seeded Saint Thomas More on Feb. 24.

Washburn scored 25 points to lead Brookfield Academy, while Wichser hit six 3-pointers to finish with 22 points.
