Led by event wins by senior Ben Attenberger and junior Ryan Linnihan, the Brookfield Barracudas boys swimming and diving team took fourth place at the 24-team Marquette Invitational on Jan. 7 at the Walter Schroeder Aquatic Center in Brown Deer.
Madison West won the invite for the fifth consecutive season by posting a team score of 320. Waukesha South/Catholic Memorial took second with 306.5 points, followed by Middleton at 253 and Brookfield at 249.

"Ryan and Ben have taken that next step to go from talented to dominant in their individual specialties," Brookfield coach Bill Twitchell said. "We have a very talented team, but we rely on Ryan's speed and Ben's power to carry us through the toughest meets.
"They both approach a race in very different manners but with the same results. With one leading off and the other anchoring our relays, we are in very good hands."

Freshman Michael Linnihan took sixth place in the 200 freestyle in 1 minute, 48.62 seconds and in seventh in the 500 freestyle in 4 minutes, 56.38 seconds. Sophomore Joseph Decker placed ninth in the 100 butterfly in 54.99 seconds.
