Being its only game in the final week of school before break, Brookfield Central's boys basketball team needed a spark on the road against last-place West Allis Central on Dec. 20.

Cole Nau provided one, pouring in a career-high 24 points with 10 rebounds, six assists and two steals to help keep the Lancers unbeaten on the season with a 74-62 victory over the Bulldogs.

The sophomore guard finished 8-for-12 from the field, 3-for-4 from beyond the arc and 5-for-7 from the foul line.

Brookfield Central, ranked No. 5 in Division 1 by, built a 35-24 halftime lead, but West Allis Central hung around in the second half by scoring 38 points after the break.

Sophomore guard Gage Malensek added 15 points, six assists and two steals. Senior guard Sam Rohde scored 12 points on 5-for-7 shooting with five rebounds and three assists; junior guard Jack Brady scored 10 points; and junior guard Andres Peralta-Werns added 8 points and two steals.

Senior forward Chris Post continued to help Brookfield Central on the glass by pulling down 10 rebounds.

The victory pushed the Lancers to 6-0 overall on the season. At 3-0 in conference play, Brookfield Central is tied for first place with Menomonee Falls. No other Greater Metro team entered this week with more than one league win.

Brookfield Central will play a pair of games at the Rick Majerus WBY Shootout at Concordia University in Mequon. The Lancers were slated to take on Whitefish Bay at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 27, and will face Homestead at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 29. Brookfield Central will return to Greater Metro play with a home game against West Allis Hale at 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 6.
