Highlighted by third-place finishes from Breck Duncan and Jacob Somlai, Brookfield Central's wrestling team took ninth place at the E.H. Stech Invitational on Dec. 17 at West Allis Central High School.

The Stech Invitational was scheduled to be a 20-team, two-day event, but the weekend snowstorm left just 10 teams able to attend.

Duncan went 3-1 on the day to take third place at 160 pounds. He earned a 3-2 decision over Reid Miller of Whitnall/Greendale in the quarterfinal before losing, 5-2, to Ted Swanson of South Milwaukee in the semifinals. Duncan bounced back to pin Devin Schulte of Coleman in 2 minutes, 49 seconds in the consolation semifinals before earning a 7-5 decision over Miller for third place.

Somlai finished 4-1 at 195 pounds. After a first-round bye, he pinned Andrew Seramur of Germantown in just 29 seconds in the quarterfinals. He was then pinned by Jeff Leflore of West Allis Central in 4:20 in the semifinals but recovered to beat Tony Mastrocola of Waterford, 5-2, in the consolation semifinals. Somlai wrapped up his day by pinning Gunnar Patz of Coleman in 27 seconds in the third-place match.
