Led by individual championships from David Holzem and Saif Ibraheem, Brookfield East's wrestling team came in second place at the Tom Burns Memorial Invitational on Dec. 10 at Marquette University High School.

The Spartans earned 216 team points to finish behind tournament champion West Bend East (233.5 points) and just ahead of third-place Greenfield (206 points).

Holzem went 5-0 with four pins and a major decision to win the championship at 138 points. He pinned Pewaukee's Jacob Baker in 1 minute, 50 seconds, Pius XI's Nate Kane in 1:38, Oak Creek's Lucas Gallett in 2:24 and Martin Luther's Tucker Hartlaub in 3:28.

At 152 pounds, Ibraheem was a perfect 5-0, downing Marquette's Richard Stangl by sudden victory at 3-1 in the championship match. He also earned a win by bye, a tech fall over Wauwatosa's Cheenu Moua, a 2-1 win over Greenfield's Kevin Pollack and a 9-2 win over Slinger's Jacob Klinger.

Stephen Multhauf (2-1 with two pins at 126 pounds), Colten Pucek (4-1 with three pins at 132 pounds) and Jacob Mandella (4-1 with four pins at 195 pounds) all took second place. Chase Jansen came in third place at 106 pounds, and Hunter Fischer took fourth place in 145 pounds.

Brookfield East will wrestle Marquette in a Greater Metro dual meet Thursday, Dec. 14. The Spartans will take part in an invitational at Stoughton High School on Saturday, Dec. 16.
