A mystery rider gave a Freedom Taxi driver a tip of $989.98 for a one-minute ride last month.

The late-night taxi ride took only a minute, but the Philadelphia cabbie will be talking the rest of his life about the tip — nearly $1,000.

Oumar Maiga, who has worked six or seven days a week for Freedom Taxi since 2011, was stunned by the $989.98 tip he got early Dec. 13 from a man he picked up on Market and Second streets in the Old City neighborhood, Philly.com reports.

The passenger wanted to go less than a mile away. The fare? $4.31. He paid with a credit card.

"I know what I did," the passenger replied when a flummoxed Maiga questioned the generous gratuity, according to cab company co-owner Everett Abitbol. The mystery rider said he appreciated the professionalism of Maiga and his cab.

He gave no explanation for the unusual amount, which, with 75 cents tax, brought the total to $995.04.

Concerned it might turn out to be a mistake, Abitbol said he waited 30 days for the credit card company to process the charge — undisputed — before announcing the news Wednesday.

Maiga wants to get in touch with the tipper, but the credit card company won't reveal his name.

Abitbol called Maiga, originally from West Africa, "a quintessential cab driver."

"He works very hard to put food on the table for his family and sends a good amount of that money to family that remain overseas," Abitbol said.

"It couldn't have happened to a better guy."
