TOWN OF BROOKFIELD - After years of waiting, planning, debating and building, the opening of The Corners is less than two months away.
Developers have announced that the town of Brookfield’s new mixed-use lifestyle destination will officially open its doors April 8. The opening will coincide with the opening of Von Maur, the center’s anchor tenant.
“We expect quite a few retailers to be open that day with others planning to open later in spring or into summer,” IM Properties vice president of U.S. Operations Robert Gould said.
The Corners represents the efforts of a number of developers including the Milwaukee-based Marcus Corporation, Chicago-based Bradford Real Estate and the UK-based IM Properties.
Aside from Von Maur, representatives for The Corners were not able to specify which stores would be opening April 8 and which would be opening later.
“The opening dates are retailers' decisions based on their store’s buildout at the site, merchandising plans and any national expansion plans in which The Corners is one new location,” Gould said.
Other tenants at The Corners that have been announced to date include Sendik’s, L.L. Bean, Café Hollander, BelAir Cantina, Kendra Scott and many others.
“We are very pleased with our unique mix of tenants announced so far, including many first-to-state retailers, national fashion brands and regional favorites,” Gould said. “There are more retail announcements to come and some space is still being negotiated. I can assure you, more exciting news is to come.”
In addition to the approximately 400,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space, the development will also offer 244 luxury apartments to be managed by The Mandel Group.
Developers say interest in the apartments is already high and the first residents will likely move in around early summer.
“Interest in our residential apartments has been incredibly strong,” Gould said.
Amenities at the apartments include a green roof entertainment terrace, a movie screening room, clubhouses and fitness centers.
