City of Brookfield — Migrating north or south might be a bit trickier for some travelers going over I-94 this winter.

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation has confirmed that it will be starting a project Feb. 15 to replace and improve the Elm Grove Road bridge that crosses over I-94.

The bridge will be closed completely throughout construction, which is expected to be completed in late-summer.

The DOT also has plans to do a bridge replacement project for the Sunnyslope Road crossing at a later date that has not yet been determined.

In addition to the bridge being replaced, the city of Brookfield is also taking the opportunity to resurface a stretch of Elm Grove Road between Bluemound Road and Greenfield Avenue. The city also will be adding a bike path along the west side of the street.
