A couple of weeks ago you wrote an article about the new park on Lilly Road and how it had some disagreement about what to name it. Frankly, I don't care what it's named, but I'm excited! When can my children and my neighbors expect to have our new park?
Answer: Not too soon I'm afraid. Well, I guess "soon" is a relative term.
According to city of Brookfield director of parks, recreation & forestry Bill Kolstad, we're well over a year away from Hidden Lake Park being ready for residents to enjoy.
"We're looking at plans for the park to be reviewed and final plans approved in mid-to-late 2017 with bidding and construction to be in early 2018," Kolstad said.
In 2016, the city's common council approved funding for Hidden Lake Park as part of its 2017 capital budget.
Hidden Lake Park would rest on 13 acres of land east of Lilly and south of Waynescott Road donated by the Regal family as part of the development agreement for Hidden Lake Preserve, an apartment project on Burleigh Road.
"If we follow that timeline, I think that it could be finished sometime in mid-2018," Kolstad said.
