City of Brookfield — Police have a lead on the recent fire at Toys R Us.

The department believes that the fire Friday night, Dec. 16 may have been started as a distraction in order for two suspects to commit retail theft and steal a cart full of undisclosed merchandise.

Surveillance footage from Toys R Us, 355 S. Moorland Road, shows two suspects waiting near the entry door shortly before the fire was discovered. When store employees leave the customer service area to check on the fire, the suspects exit with their cart.

The first suspect is described as a black woman with a slender build in her early 20s wearing a green knit hat with gray tassel with a Packers "G" and a maroon jacket over a gray hoodie.

The second suspect is described as a black woman with a heavy build, wearing a waist-length jacket with fur-trimmed hood, knit hat and boots with fur trim.

The fire was extinguished shortly after city of Brookfield firefighters arrived on the scene just before 10 p.m. Friday.

Anyone with information related to the fire is asked to call city of Brookfield police at 262-787-3702.
