CITY OF BROOKFIELD — A former favorite restaurant in Brookfield will be demolished and replaced by a 23,600-square-foot medical building beginning in April.

The Venice Club, 1905 N. Calhoun Road, was closed in 2014 after 31 years in business in the city. Milwaukee-based developer Irgens acquired the property in July of that year and, in December of 2015, it was announced that the company was planning to raze the existing structure and build the Calhoun Health Center.

The Calhoun Health Center will be anchored by Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin, which will feature 15,000-square-feet of primary care, obstetrics/gynecology, maternal fetal medicine, laboratory and radiology services and imaging services at the location.

The other 8,600-square-feet of space at the center is still available for lease.

Irgens officials hope to begin construction on the project in April and have it finished by December.
