Local audiences can vote for the 2017 Footlights Performing Arts Awards through April 28 from among several local semifinalists.

Voting is open to artists, audiences and the public. The final three nominees in each category will be announced in early May, with winners announced at the awards ceremony June 22.

The following Sunset Playhouse artists are nominated: Rhonda Schmidt — best costume design, “Anything Goes;” Katrina Smith — best technical design, lighting and sound, “Little Shop of Horrors;” Nick Korneski — best scenic design, “Anything Goes;” Tommy Lueck — best direction, “Little Shop of Horrors;” Katie Katschke — best supporting performance (female in a musical), “Fiddler on the Roof;” Josh Scheibe — best leading performance (male in a play), “Boeing Boeing;” Victoria Hudziak — best leading performance (female in a play), “Boeing Boeing;” Ben Johnson — best leading performance (male in a musical), “Anything Goes;” Rick Richter — best leading performance (male in a musical), “Fiddler on the Roof;” Katie Katschke — best leading performance (female in a musical), “Little Shop of Horrors;” Rae Elizabeth Paré — best leading performance (female in a musical), “Anything Goes.”

Local artist Connor Martin was nominated for best supporting performance (male in a musical) for Brookfield Center for the Arts’ production of “High School Musical.”

Additionally, Sunset Playhouse was nominated for best performance, ballet, concert and music for its productions of “Billy Joel & Friends” and “Glorious Gershwin,” as well as best performance (best musical) for “Little Shop of Horrors.”
