Public ice skating: Grab your skates and take a spin around the ice at the Eble Ice Arena, 19400 W. Bluemound Road, from noon to 3 p.m. each weekday (also 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday). The cost is $6.50 for adults and $5 for children and senior citizens. Skates can be rented for $2.50.

Toddler Tales: Children ages 2 and 3 can listen to stories, sing songs and enjoy finger plays during a half-hour session at 9:30 or 10:30 a.m. at the Brookfield Public Library, 1900 N. Calhoun Road.

Sci-Fi philosophy: Fantasy and science fiction writers often not only create worlds but draw on key ideas from metaphysics and moral philosophy. The Worlds of Fantasy and Science Fiction Philosophical Themes series at the Brookfield Public Library, 1900 N. Calhoun Road, will examine 20th and 21st century writers and the philosophical underpinnings of the worlds they developed. This session is from 7 to 8 p.m. and is led by Greg Sadler, a Priority Thinking APPA-certified philosophical counselor. Anyone 18 or older is welcome.

Holiday Family Event: Treats, crafts and holiday entertainment will be offered at the Elm Grove Public Library, 13600 Juneau Blvd., from 6 to 8 p.m. Jania Taylor will perform a Christmas Carol Holiday Magic Show. Pick up a free ticket to attend at the library during the day.

“The Best Christmas Pageant Ever!”: A couple struggling to mount the annual church pageant is faced with casting the Herdman kids, known as raucous, misbehaving bullies. Breakfast With Santa: The Brookfield Junior Lancers Cheer and Stunt program is hosting Breakfast with Santa at two times, 8 a.m. and 9:30 a.m., at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, N36-W24130 Pewaukee Road (Hwy 164), Pewaukee. Tickets cost $15 per person, and include a breakfast of pancakes, sausage, bacon, orange juice, milk and coffee, holiday crafts, and a photo with Santa. Holiday Pet Photos: Bring your pet to the Elmbrook Humane Society, 20950 Enterprise Ave., between noon and 3 p.m. for a festive holiday photo.

Lego Club: Kids of all ages can come to the Brookfield Public Library, 1900 N. Calhoun Road, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. to build fabulous creations with the library’s Legos. Parents must stay with children younger than 10.

Adult Coloring Club: Adults can reduce stress and relax by coloring from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Brookfield Public Library, 1900 N. Calhoun Road. Coloring pages and supplies will be provided, but feel free to bring your own. This group meets the second Saturday of each month.

Milwaukee Choristers Christmas Concert: The Milwaukee Choristers present a Christmas Concert at 7:30 p.m. (also Saturday) at St. Mary’s Visitation, 1260 Church St. Advance tickets cost $18 for general admission, $15 for seniors (62 and older) and $6 for students. Tuesday 12/13

Toddler Playgroup: Children up to age 3 can enjoy play time with age-appropriate early literacy toys and interaction with other toddlers and their caregivers during this story time at the Elm Grove Public Library, 13600 Juneau Blvd. Drop in anytime between 10 and 11 a.m. Registration is not needed.

Tuesday Morning Playgroup: Children up to age 2 can drop in any time between 10 and 11:30 a.m. at the Brookfield Public Library, 1900 N. Calhoun Road, to play with toys and make new friends.

Animals in Winter: David Stokes will lead this program for kids at the Brookfield Public Library, 1900 N. Calhoun Road, from 7 to 8 p.m.

Tuesday bridge group: Come play bridge at the Brookfield Senior Community Center located at City Hall, 2000 N. Calhoun Road, from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. each Tuesday. The cost is $1 per week.
