City of Brookfield — The suspect in Sunday morning's shooting that left two teens injured at the Brookfield Embassy Suites is in custody.
A 19-year-old Milwaukee man has been taken into custody after turning himself in Monday following negotiations between city of Brookfield detectives and the suspect's family.
The suspect is likely facing multiple charges of attempted first-degree intentional homicide and multiple charges of recklessly endangering safety.
Police responded to the hotel at approximately 1:30 a.m. after a report of a man shooting at many of the guests after a dispute stemming from a party.
Police say that a number of young adults were at the party and that a fight broke out between the suspect and a woman. The suspect allegedly physically assaulted the woman and, when other guests intervened, he pulled out a handgun and opened fire.
Approximately six shots were fired and two victims were struck while others narrowly escaped.
Police say that the suspect then fled the scene in a vehicle which was recovered early Sunday morning. Police say that they have no reason to believe any threats still exist in the city of Brookfield.
Both victims are from Milwaukee. A woman was shot in the buttocks and has been treated and released while a man was shot in the abdomen, underwent surgery and is now in recovery.
With the help of the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Department, the suspect's firearm was recovered Sunday night on a frozen pond in a Milwaukee County park.
City of Brookfield police were aided by many neighboring law enforcement agencies.
