One of Hollywood's most polarizing couples has uncoupled.

Taylor Swift, 26, and Tom Hiddleston, 35, have broken up, according to US Weekly and People.

Swift, who recently topped Forbes' list as the world's highest-paid celebrity, was first romantically linked to the prolific actor — known as Loki in the beloved Thor franchise — on June 15 after British tabloid The Sun published a photograph of the stars kissing on the beach near Swift’s Rhode Island home.

Aptly dubbed "Hiddleswift," the pairing was the stuff of fans' Wildest Dreams — or nightmares, depending on whom you ask — and their whirlwind relationship quickly unfurled in a series of highly publicized displays of affection, trips to Rhode Island, Suffolk, Rome and Australia and meetings with the parents.

In July, Hiddleston addressed speculation that the fast-moving romance was a sham. While shooting Thor: Ragnarok in Australia, the actor spoke to The Hollywood Reporter by phone, saying: "Well, um. How best to put this? The truth is that Taylor Swift and I are together and we're very happy. Thanks for asking."

"That's the truth," he maintained. "It's not a publicity stunt."

Swift's camp did not respond to USA TODAY's request for comment on the breakup stories and Hiddleston's rep issued a terse "We do not comment on our client's private life."
