Public ice skating: Grab your skates and take a spin around the ice at the Eble Ice Arena, 19400 W. Bluemound Road, from noon to 3 p.m. each weekday and 2 to 4 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. The cost is $6.50 for adults and $5 for children and senior citizens. Skates can be rented for $2.50.

Advanced Email: Learn how to create and view attachments, use a contact list and create labels and groups during this class at the Brookfield Public Library, 1900 N. Worlds of Speculative Fiction - Philosophy, Fantasy and Science Fiction: This monthly series at the Brookfield Public Library, 1900 N. Calhoun Road, will examine some of the great authors in the genres of philosophy, fantasy and science fiction. This session is from 7 to 8 p.m. and is led by Greg Sadler, a Priority Thinking APPA-certified philosophical counselor. Anyone 18 or older is welcome.

Baby and Me Story Time with Cheri Riehle: Children up to 3 years of age and their caregiver can take part in playtime with toys related to the theme for the day from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Elm Grove Public Library, 13600 Juneau Blvd. Registration is required; call the library at 262-782-6717.

Preschool Story Time: Children ages 3 to 5 who haven’t started kindergarten yet can take part in early literacy activities including stories, rhymes and songs from 11 to 11:30 a.m. at the Elm Grove Public Library, 13600 Juneau Blvd. Register for this group by stopping by the Children’s Department or calling the library at 262-782-6700.

Saturday 4/15

Craft Saturday: Kids of all ages can come to the Brookfield Public Library, 1900 N. Calhoun Road, any time between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. to make a seasonal craft to take home.

Infant Massage: A certified instructor will introduce participants to the benefits of infant massage from 11 to 11:30 a.m. at the Brookfield Public Library, 1900 N. Calhoun Road. Register by calling the library at 262-782-4140, Option 2.

Junior Guild Egg Hunt: The Elm Grove Junior Guild will host an Easter egg hunt at 10 a.m. at Village Park, 13600 Juneau Blvd., rain or shine. The free hunt is open to the public.

Town of Brookfield Egg Hunt: Children 8 and younger can take part in an Easter egg hunt at 10 a.m. at Marx Park, 700 S. Barker Road. Children will be grouped by ages, and an Easter egg “crawl” will be held for the youngest seekers. Bring a camera to take a picture with the Easter Bunny. The hunt will be held rain or shine.

Monday 4/17

Preschool Story Time: Children ages 3 to 5 are invited to the Brookfield Public Library, 1900 N. Calhoun Road, at 10:30 a.m. for a half-hour session filled with songs, stories and finger plays. Children must attend with a caregiver. Register at the Children’s Reference Desk the morning of the program.

Early History of Milwaukee: Historic Milwaukee, Inc., will present a series of talks about the history of Milwaukee at the Brookfield Public Library, 1900 N. Calhoun Road. The one-hour presentation will begin at 7 p.m.

Tuesday 4/18

Tuesday Morning Playgroup: Children up to age 2 can drop in any time between 10 and 11:30 a.m. at the Brookfield Public Library, 1900 N. Calhoun Road, to play with toys and make new friends.

Junior Adventure Club "Wild Cats": Children ages 5 to 8 can take part in activities, play games and make crafts from 4:30 to 5:15 p.m. at the Brookfield Public Library, 1900 N. Calhoun Road. Register by calling the library at 262-782-4140.

Toddler Playgroup: Children up to age 3 can enjoy play time with age-appropriate early literacy toys and interaction with other toddlers and their caregivers during this story time at the Elm Grove Public Library, 13600 Juneau Blvd. Drop in anytime between 10 and 11 a.m. Registration is not needed.

Word Class 1: Learn how to start Microsoft Word, create a new document, move the cursor around, save a document, print and do basic editing during this class at the Brookfield Public Library, 1900 N. Calhoun Road, from 10 to 11 a.m. Registration is required; call the library at 262-782-4140, Option 1. Basic keyboard and mouse skills are required.

At Knit’s End: Knitters of all skill levels can join this group that meets the first and third Tuesdays of the month at the Brookfield Public Library, 1900 N. Calhoun Road, from 1 to 3 p.m.

Tuesday bridge group: Come play bridge at the Brookfield Senior Community Center located at City Hall, 2000 N. Calhoun Road, from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. each Tuesday. The cost is $1 per week. Wednesday 4/19

Toddler Tales: Children ages 2 and 3 can listen to stories, sing songs and enjoy finger plays during a half-hour session at 9:30 or 10:30 a.m. at the Brookfield Public Library, 1900 N. Calhoun Road.

Take Me Out to the Ball Game: Kevin Abing of the Milwaukee County Historical Society will discuss the history of baseball in Milwaukee from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Brookfield Public Library, 1900 N. Calhoun Road.

Tai Chi: Members of the Brookfield Senior Community Center will practice Tai Chi each Wednesday from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the center, which is inside City Hall, 2000 N. Calhoun Road.

Scrabble play: The Brookfield Senior Community Center located at City Hall, 2000 N. Calhoun Road, hosts Scrabble game playing from 10 a.m. to noon each Wednesday. Just drop by. For information on the center, call 262-796-6675.
