Stephen Colbert makes fake news on 'Late Show' to pacify 'big, angry' Trump

Another day, another monologue infused with punchlines centering around the president for Stephen Colbert. Though, much to The Late Show host's amusement, he did get to crack some NSFW jokes later in his opening about a sex scandal not involving Trump.

Colbert began his monologue talking about the Republican's "three-bucket strategy" to rebrand the American Health Care Act. "Three buckets is what they're calling it," Colbert explained to his audience. "So, no healthcare but with all those buckets think of how much you'll save on urns. The host, whose Colbert Report alter ego came out earlier in the week, went as far as suggesting we "pour Grandma right in the bucket."

But, it's not just Grandma who needs our sympathy right now. As the comedian mentioned, Politico reported that after rulings against his temporary travel ban, Trump officials "tried to cheer the president up" with footage of a Harvard law professor declaring that the ruling would not be upheld by the Supreme Court.

"They treat the president the same way you treat a 5-year-old throwing a tantrum," Colbert deduced. "‘Honey, honey, honey, calm down. Look, look, we got Frozen. We got the CD for Frozen. Let’s put that in there. Now please, 'let it go.'"

Being in favor of calming down "the big, angry man with the launch codes," Colbert had his in-house news gatherers create a report with a positive spin on "Real News Tonight."

A story that POTUS "rode a lion into battle and defeated ISIS with his bare, big, huge hands," should cheer him up, right?
